PITB Signed MOUs with Leading IT Companies

The Punjab Information Technology Board signed 8 MOUs with various leading international high-tech companies to bring an IT revolution in Punjab.

MOU Briefs:

  1. Microsoft – Microsoft Innovation Center
    • Microsoft through the Center’s facilities will work with the academic community, local software companies, entrepreneurs and startup companies to allow them to test, pilot and embed the latest technologies in their products and solutions to enable them to compete in the global economy by developing solutions within the Punjab province. The MIC will also focus on technical skills development, start-up incubation, and Student 2 Business projects.
  2. Microsoft – Rozgar Scheme
    • This project will educate and impart skills to students who received laptops though the Chief Minister’s e-Youth initiative to generate a healthy income via the internet.
  3. Oracle – Oracle Training Academy
    • The Academy will offer internationally-certified programs aimed at professional development through Oracle-specific technologies at heavily subsidized rates. By leveraging the global IT expertise of Oracle through its curriculum and technologies, this academy will help fulfill the growing need for qualified IT professionals in the province.
  4. Wateen Telecom – e-Library Services
    • Wateen will assist PITB in making educational material available online free of cost for graduate and post-graduate students. This will include course material, past examination questions, solved papers, and tips on attempting examination questions. Wateen will also be installing Wi-Fi hot spots across various institutions of higher learning that students will be able to access for free.
  5. Huawei – Huawei Network Academy
    • The Huawei Network Academy will give students firsthand exposure to the latest network technologies and implementation approaches. Huawei will also assist PITB in setting up a cloud-based computing environment that will enable governments to run well-maintained back office application efficiently and cost-effectively. Additionally, it will help PITB develop a technology teaching center to offer courses to students and the industry.
  6. Cisco – Cisco Networking Academy
    • Through the Cisco Networking Academy, schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions are provided with a computer networking curriculum developed by Cisco, the global leader in networking and communication devices. This program will help students develop foundational skills in ICT while acquiring vital 21st-century career skills in problem solving, collaboration, and critical thinking. Cisco is also helping to set up a world-class data center to provide public cloud services. Cisco and PITB will collaborate to provide critical citizen services in remote areas of the Punjab.
  7. Teradata - Teradata Global Consulting Center
    • The Center will help in generating employment in the IT sector in Punjab, and will serve as a hub for horning IT skills of the youth and placing them on international projects, giving an opportunity to work remotely on assignments while working in close collaboration with, and being guided by highly skilled professionals from around the world.
  8. Transworld – Free Fiber Optic Data Cabling
    • Transworld will provide fiber optic data cables to PITB’s data center free of cost, allowing PITB greater access to connectivity and having increased bandwidth abilities.
