PITB recently introduces the Centralized Driving License Issuance and Management System all over Punjab. Driving License Issuance Management System (DLIMS) automates the processes for driving license issuance, renewal and upgrades. These activities are carried out throughout the province of Punjab. The system provides quick processing service to citizens and up to date statistics to the authorities by using state of the art technology and equipment in an efficient way. PITB, in collaboration with Transport Department gave the direction of using technology for operating this system. It will enhance the transparency and facilitate every citizen in getting the License through proper medium.
The basic purpose of this system is to redefine the issuance process of all types of licenses by using a centralized network and liberates the driver to get the license issued or renewed from any Driving Licensing Authority across the province. The salient Features of this system are to make Centralized Issuance and Management of Driving Licenses and Challan Ticketing System and renewal of any type of license can be made from anywhere in the province. It provides Centralized Database of Licensing System to whole Punjab and also a hassle free approach towards applying and receiving a Driving License for citizens. Through this system delivery of Issued Licenses through courier and basing on that verification of the Applicant became easy and quick. And it also approaches towards the centralized Driving License printing facility too.
Centralized Driving License Issuance System is maintaining the correct and updated databases of Driving Licenses from all over Punjab. The centralized printing system is transparent enough to stop forgery and issuance of fake Driving Licenses. DLIMS widely creating a data-hub of Driving Licenses which will facilitate other agencies like Criminal Record Office (CRO), Motor Vehicle Examiner (MVE) Office, and Motor Registration Authority DRTA. Centralized Driving License Issuance and Management System in Punjab help reduce vehicle related crimes. Also the revenue has been increased by ensuring transparency.
The customer service values improved in such a way that the applicant now only have to visit the licensing testing center and upon passing the test, the applicant will get internationally renowned Secured Card based driving license. In order to have a self-sustainable model to continue giving best service delivery to the general public, revolving fund created for inward and outward transactions. In the previous system, people residing in one district transferred from native district couldn’t acquire the license card from the residing district. For that purpose, they had to travel back to their native district. With the help of centralized system of DLIMS, citizens apply/renew their license cards from any location or district of Punjab.
PITB is always giving its best to make systems better in the government. Technology is raising the standards of good governance in the province. DLMIS is an example of better use of technology in Punjab for facilitating and empowering citizens through technology.
