IT, Science & Technology Exhibition

Punjab IT Board in collaboration with Sports Board Punjab conducted this year’s largest and most anticipated IT, Science & Technology Exhibition and Competition from 1st March – 3rd March 2014 at the Expo Centre, Lahore.
Punjab IT Exhibition brought together in one ideal venue the largest gathering of both exhibitors and visitors from across Pakistan. Exhibitors and visitors from the IT Industry, Universities and Energy Solution Sector participated in bulks. And as it was not only an exhibition but also an IT competition, therefore, it turned out as the best chance for university students to showcase their science models to the big giants of the IT industry.

For instance, PMIT students (under the stall of PCSIR) displayed a lathe machine; CERAD (UET) showcased a solar hybrid air conditioning system and students of NUST exhibited their robots. Defence Welfare Society (solar & wind fuel stand and a car engine that could run on water alone) and Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technology (Bio Gas Plant and Solar Tube well) displayed alternative energy models. Moreover, the National Disaster Management Authority (post disaster house models), Pakistan Museum of Natural History (scientific models of fossils and dinosaurs) and Pakistan Standard and Quality Control Authority (certified consumer products) set their stalls at the exhibition showcasing their products and models. The Traffic Police also had a stall at the exhibition and they not only familiarized the visitors with traffic rules but also provided learner’s driving license.

Further, ministries of Science & Technology and IT along with prestigious organizations like Centre for Applied Molecular Biology, Pakistan Engineering Council, Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, National Institute of Oceanography, Autosoft, Lumensoft, elearn.Punjab, Plan 9, ITU and TEVTA had promotional and informative displays at the Centre.

Moreover, there were also workshops and seminars targeting both students and IT professionals.

In short, the IT, Science & Technology Exhibition turned out as a huge success as it greatly served its purpose to promote and inform the IT literates.
